Stupid Sin

To call Gov. Mark Sanford's caper (saying he was hiking the Appalachian Trail while actually flying to Argentina for an extended tryst with his lover) sophomoric is an insult to sophomores. It reminds me of the incredible blindness of one Gov. Blago, who continued phoning people about dirty deals even though he knew the feds were investigating.

Some people think they will never get caught-until they are. Evangelist Billy Sunday once said, "Sin can be forgiven, but stupid is forever." What Sanford did was not only sinful; it was stupid to the nth degree. South Carolina doesn't need him running the state.
