Obstinate Oscars

The Academy Awards scored their lowest ratings in two decades the other night. Perhaps one reason is the violent and disturbing nature of several of the films up for honors. It's hard for the whole family to watch such stuff.

When will Hollywood ever learn? Family-friendly films usually do better at the box office, yet the movie industry seems intent on force-feeding us the dark stuff. I'll shed few tears for their ratings fiasco.
