Rick and Barack

Christian fundamentalists objected last week to Barack Obama, a prominent abortion-rights advocate, speaking at Pastor Rick Warren's AIDS conference. I can agree that someone who supports the slaughter of the innocent unborn seems incongruous being on the right side of other life issues. But with more than 40 million people infected worldwide with HIV, Christians need to make common cause with all who can help us fight this scourge in God's name. If FDR could join with Stalin to defeat Hitler, why can't we work with Obama to address the AIDS pandemic? If evangelicals only work with those who agree with us 100 percent of the time, we will relegate ourselves to enduring irrelevance. Let's get serious.
